The Black Dot - A book not just about 'RAPE'
The Black Dot is a completed stuff. But what I mean is not about the novel, but about a bunch of papers in which I wrote my thoughts about the Delhi incident, what I felt about the media, What was the atmosphere of India, why such a revolutionary strike, what can I do, what we all must do; these were the scribbles. I kept updating those pages for the whole month of December. But this was just a time pass. Just to evaluate how I can take on a social issue and write about it. Making this a novel was an impulsive decision, so I had to drop it in between. (Most of the impulsive decisions are taken at wrong time)
Actually, as a fresher, I was afraid to come up with such a bold plot of story. I thought not to take a risk and to write the most accepted by the young; ‘Romance Genre’. So I started fighting with words to bind a book with some cute romantic situations, dialogues and so on. Hard days! Each time I re-read the whole, I feel like I just watched some Bollywood movie with funky, cliché dialogues. Still I tried hard and decided not to quit. But fate was something else. Everything turned around and I,
again stood at the same point where I started; ‘The Black Dot’. (Toiinngg...)
There are confusions and it starts from Why ‘this’???
Why ‘THE BLACK DOT’?
Black dot is believed to be the dot of shame. It has been widely considered as the response of we people to those thousands of rape happen around our country every year. So the name suits the cover.
What makes ‘The Black dot’ differ from other rape & women humiliation stories?
Writing a book on a social issue is tough. Need a lot of research, understandings and beliefs about the core of the plot. Since it’s not a complete fiction but a hybrid of Fact & Fiction, it has to be taken seriously at times. But I won’t be making my book a documentary or something on the issue. There’s the TWIST (I say) comes, it’s a journey, let’s say journey of girl from her adult to her old. It’s a life she speaks about and she won’t be struggling all her life thinking & fighting about a rape. Her life has everything; Happiness, sadness, friendships, love@ sight, romance, breakup, mystery, investigation, suspense and a climax, then the Epilogue. ‘Rape’ is just a part of it that’s highlighted.

The Inspire
Whatever it be, there will be always a push inside your heart to move on to your goal and what we call it is ‘Inspirations’. So as a writer, I too had an inspiration to start the penning to look around for inspirations. Hard! But I found many. Speaking frankly, I don’t think I had to search around for inspirations. Well, when I started putting down the words; every clue, every visual, every solution, every idea what I call ‘Inspiration’ was coming by my way. Thanks to the almighty for the luck! Just keep your eyes open.
How would you grab your inspirations???
Here’s what I do.
• I had sleepless nights thinking about what to write. And I felt this to be world’s most boring task. But giving up or not is what that decides our success and failure. So don’t stop thinking; your brain would light up anytime. Keep Calm & Meditate for patience.
• An author’s auto biography is never ever an inspiration. But read failure stories, you will definitely get to know ‘What not to do!’
• When you read a book review. Read more negative comments than the flattering. That would get you know how your readers approach your writing.
This is just a few that worked for me. Still I’m working on different. And will be updating that at times. But I guess this would help for those who want to start.
Inspirations never end; we just have to stay alarm to see what fits ours.

The Envision
On cue, I sang
“I know that there is pain
but you hold on for one more day
and you break free from the chain…
Don’t you know…things can change…?
Things’ll go your way…
If you hold on for one more day”
“The Black Dot” is a decision to prove myself as a writer. That’s not too much. I can write. But I took two years to realize this. That’s a long story; I don’t want to bore you.
When I wrote few pages of the book, I had no idea where this is going and how I should end. It’s a tough job. How should I start was the biggest confusion ever. I wrote many and scrunched many.
Since the book is a mix of Fact & Fiction, I can’t simply put down whatever comes to my thought. It’s something that has to connect with the atmosphere (the plot) & the readers equally. So the research I done helped me a bit to start my baby steps. ‘The Black dot’ is strong with the theme; I must say a bit filmy too. After all everything happen around these days are nothing less than a film (Don’t take personally, cause I don’t care)
Once I lifted myself from the Marsh and started writing with the dirt, I saw the change by my eyes in the paper I wrote. Everything I was writing finally making perfect shape and the color was getting even darker than the start (I just meant that my work is going well. C’mon, I’m a writer).
Some dreams have to be followed. There is a path that is invisible and can be clearly seen when our nerves rest, our eyes are closed but still we are alive and conscious. I see everything in this blue black cold and that’s how my pen moves to write them down. The Envision is the first step I took as a writer or it’s the first thing that helped me to step forward as a writer.
(Blah…Blah...Blah… I know I talk too much)
“The Black dot” has just started his journey. He has a story to tell. Shhh...This story could make your nights longer or can make you sleep. It depends. I won’t assure you the best but I take the red ink and scratch a line down the note “I assure you that you can’t stop thinking how it happened in just a paragraph”.
Either it will excite you or it will disappoint you. But that’s what I want; that’s how it goes.

#1 Journey with ‘The Black Dot’
‘The Black dot’ has a lot to share with you. Reading a book on fact and fiction is interesting and I hope intriguing. But writing it as effective is a tough challenge. And I’m trying to come up with a good book. Because I see some eyes waiting eagerly for my work to be in air and I guess they’ve some expectation. So far I have done well. The journey was by fits and starts. And I’m so happy and excited to introduce you “The Black Dot”
Let me start the journey of “The Black Dot”
Black Dot has a lot to do with the past, present & of course the future. The book doesn’t point its finger to any particular. But let me clearly put it this way “The Black Dot has nothing to do with any incident in the past, present & future and has nothing to do with a person who’s dead or alive. It’s just a literally work from the imagination of the author. Everything else that comes to your mind is just coincidence or you are good at making it.”
No offence readers But I have a question: Why India witnessed a young revolution last year on December for just one girl, when there are many other girls & women are raped every year at every place?
Was she lucky to have so many fighters behind her to bring justice to her? Or did they fight because they were fed up of such brutality in a country where we have women goddess in every temple?
This was something I always wanted to ask and I see this book as a good opportunity to scream out the rights and wrongs through a story. Let’s see how many follows this.
I have some people to introduce. I have some situations that I want you to analyze and work on. I want you to start the story where I drop my first question in the Book. I have some friends to be with her at her ups and downs. I have some villains to drag her to hell. I have some angels to pull her up. I have this and that.
And I call this “The Black Dot”
